Welcome to Practically Beta.

Hey there! I’m Karida Palmer, and welcome to Practically Beta — my personal sandbox turned thought lab where I explore how people, technology, and transformation work together in the real world.

With big change comes big questions that we don’t always have the space to answer within organizations. Questions like:

What happens to my cognition if I rely more and more on technology?

How do we prepare kids and teens to thrive, not just survive, in a tech world?

Where do I even start when I’m thinking about the competencies for my workforce when they seem to change daily?

PB is the space where I meet these types of questions with data-backed research, while also creating tools that help people today.

If you feel like the pace of change in the workforce is accelerating faster than our ability to keep up, you are not alone. PB is where I break down the big, sometimes overwhelming world of workforce transformation into something more grounded. Something that makes you think “oh, I see how this connects,” or “okay, this is a future I can get behind.”

This space is equal parts frameworks, experiments, and honest conversations about what it takes to build human-centered solutions in a world that’s constantly evolving. It’s practical. It’s a little playful. And yes, it’s always in beta — because the best solutions come from staying curious and being willing to iterate.

The short version.

I’m a workforce & talent strategist and change leader with 20+ years architecting where the workforce is going — not just tracking where they’ve been. My expertise sits in the talent lifecycle and designing enterprise workforce planning frameworks that translate workforce data, labor market dynamics, and business forecasts into executive action. I’m a published researcher and original framework developer (Palmer’s Trough) on how people, policy, and pressure collide inside institutions during transformation.

§

Change is not new. But working in large institutions, I saw firsthand how the acceleration of change has collided with the workforce, and we are at the crossroads of deciding how we’ll shape the workforce for decades. While I continue leading workforce strategy inside organizations, PB is the result of my need to build something that could move faster, think more freely, and address the questions the system wasn’t structured to ask.

What I do.

I’ve led enterprise-level change initiatives, built strategies for critical talent gaps, modernized recruitment pipelines, and led pilots that integrated AI into HR and strategic communications workflows. PB is the space where the research meets the practitioner work. It reimagines the workforce bench — starting upstream, where young minds are being shaped long before they enter the workforce.

From individual behaviors to organizational culture to societal attitudes, I use data-based research to explore what’s possible when we manage change and adopt technology with intention. This work led me to develop Palmer’s Trough of Potential™(© 2025), a diagnostic framework for understanding how people engage with AI. I’m currently expanding this research through Palmer’s Workforce Adaptation Index (PWAI), the behavioral assessment built on Palmer’s Trough, and Divergence Threshold, a unified theory on the inverse relationship between AI scaling and human persistence.

My approach blends analytical rigor with modern tools to create solutions that are scalable, inclusive, and centered on human needs.

I’m going to show you something you may not see. It’s all part of the same system, even if it doesn’t naturally slide into place for you that way. I’m going to show you.
