Rome wasn’t built in a day—and neither was the Practically Beta website! So how did I, a non-developer and non-code-fluent strategist, build out this site? With the help of my AI Dream Team, of course.

I’ll let them introduce themselves in a moment, but here’s a taste of what they did for me:

  • Generated code for all my website-specific design content.
  • Advised on site structure for the best possible user experience.
  • Provided technical guidance on actually building the site.
  • Hallucinated gloriously… costing me a few hours of productivity (true story).
  • Delivered laughs and support at 6 AM, 12 PM, and even 1 AM, because a restless mind never sleeps.

Lesson Learned:

Like most AIs, my team does what they do incredibly well—and they have the confidence levels to remind you, too. But in the end, the vision, structure, strategy, content, and design choices? Those came from me. Human voice and soul, AI code and clarity.

Decide what you need help with. Your AI team member can assist with coding, structuring your ideas, or even generating images—depending on their capabilities.
Test them out. Treat it like an interview: make sure their personality and strengths align with your work style. Remember, just like human teammates, they’ll adapt more to your voice over time.
Plan. Once you know which AI assistant fits your needs best, clarify your roles. Define what you’ll do and what they’ll do—just like you would when collaborating with any human partner.

I asked each team member to generate an image of themselves that reflects how they see themselves—and how I, and the rest of the team, would see them. Claude doesn’t have image generation capabilities, so I used his direct prompt in OpenAI’s DALL·E to create his photo. The responses below are in their own voices, unedited and unmistakably them.
